While the chef world is a sexy, vibrant field of endless creativity, HUNGRY reveals the real creative genius is not only with the food, but with the behind-the-scenes resourcefulness and grit it takes for women chefs and restaurateurs to get a restaurant financed, built, running and promoted in what continues to be a male-dominated field. In this verite-driven film following three incredibly talented women chefs, Chef Dakota Weiss, Chef Pink Delongpre, and Chef Sarah Kirnon, viewers experience the highs and lows of being a woman and a restaurateur as these three women blaze new paths and aim to revolutionize their industry.

Sarah Kirnon is the owner and operator of Miss Ollie's’s in Oakland, which she opened in 2012. Raised in Barbados as the youngest girl in a typical Caribbean home, she began learning to cook at the age of eight from her great grandmothers Miss G and Miss Ollie, who were both cooks on a sugar plantation. Those early lessons have guided her on a 31-year journey in the food industry. From dishwasher to line cook to executive chef and now owner, Sarah has put good food on the map.

Dakota Weiss is the Executive Chef and Partner of Sweetfin Poké & Estrella. Sweetfin Poké is a fast-casual concept serving California-spun Hawaiian soul food that opened in 2015 in Santa Monica. A second outpost opened in Woodland Hills in October 2016, with another 5 new locations opening in the next 6 months.

Chef Pink is the “Bacon” half of her Solvang restaurant, Bacon & Brine. A 17-year food and restaurant industry veteran, she has worked with California Chefs and restaurants stretching from Los Angeles to San Francisco, as well as in New York and Paris kitchens. Chef Pink helmed local Santa Barbara eateries for many years, before making the move to the Santa Ynez Valley. In recent years, Chef Pink’s dedication to her craft and her food mission garnered her spots on SpikeTV’s Bar Rescue, Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen, and a spot on Man vs Child on FYI Television Network.
