What was it like being a trans youth between 2015 and 2019 in the age of Snapchat, bathroom bills, the Pulse Nightclub shooting, the Trump presidency, and the years immediately following the so-called "Transgender Tipping Point?" Avery’s photo is on the cover of National Geographic. Leena has her sights set on a modeling career but must grapple with discrimination that still lingers in the fashion industry. Phoenix's mom represents the heartbreaking reality for some trans youth, as a mother who shockingly changes her perspective and understanding of trans kids. But luckily, Phoenix's affirming dad is quite the opposite. When Jay is outed on Snapchat, he loses his girlfriend but never has to question the unwavering support of his queer mom and her partner.

Executive produced by Kimberly Reed (Prodigal Sons, Frameline33), this compelling HBO documentary takes a deep dive into the lives of four transgender youth coming of age in a new era of gender expansion, a treacherous political landscape, and a world where technology is at their fingertips: a combination of factors that is drastically changing what it means to grow up transgender in this country.

This film contains disturbing news footage and a discussion of self-harm.
