When Abbie (The Hunger Games' Willow Shields) moves to California to attend school on a full-ride scholarship, she discovers a sense of independence that she had yet to experience back home in Washington with her family. While pursuing her passion for animation, Abbie meets an enticing woman named Karly (Ava Capri of Love, Victor) whom she begins to fall for. Back home however, her parents Tish (Elizabeth Mitchell of Lost and Gia) and Mark (Lochlyn Munro of Riverdale), struggle without Abbie's help to care for her teenage brother Kayden, who has autism and is non-verbal.
When Abbie returns home for the holidays, it becomes clear that she will have to choose between her newfound independence and her devotion to her brother, the person she loves the most in the world. Featuring extraordinary performances as well as welcoming newcomer Jonathan Simao (who was cast authentically as someone who is on the autism spectrum), When Time Got Louder combines a coming-of-age story with a moving and heart wrenching drama. Director, Writer, and Producer Connie Cocchia drew upon her own experiences growing up with a sibling impacted by autism as the foundation for her powerful and timely first feature.
