This one-of-a-kind event includes screenings of the films Alok and There Are Things to Do — a doc portrait of Alok’s aunt, activist Urvashi Vaid. Alok director Alex Hedison will join Mike Syers, director of There Are Things to Do, for an enlightening onstage conversation about the legacy of activism and the continued importance of making your voice heard in support of LGBTQ+ rights
A compelling portrait of Alok, acclaimed non-binary author, poet, comedian, and public speaker. Executive produced by Jodie Foster, Alok is directed by Alex Hedison (The L Word) and features appearances from fellow queer influencers Dylan Mulvaney and Chani Nicholas.
Urvashi Vaid, an outspoken immigrant, lesbian, and woman of color was an LGBTQ+ superhero helped shape the modern day gay rights movement. Her vision for the movement serves as a roadmap of initiatives & tools for generations of activist as they face anti-LGBTQ+ backlash.
Our queerness demands to be seen, heard, and appreciated. This program presents the spaces that make us who we are — past, present, and future — that unleash us and unify our community. Co-presented with Drunken Film Festival and showing at the newly reopened STUD Bar on Folsom Street as well as the Roxie.
