Youth in Motion

    Youth in Motion creates safer schools for LGBTQ+ youth and allies.

    Since 2008, Youth in Motion has provided free LGBTQ+ films and curriculum guides to Genders & Sexualities Alliances (formerly known as Gay-Straight Alliances) and educators in schools nationwide. Youth in Motion now supports more than 30,000 students in over 1,600 schools in all 50 states!

    Our 2022-23 collection features the acclaimed documentary, Unapologetic, along with a discussion guide and curriculum developed for middle and high school students. You can register your school for FREE here!

    The Youth in Motion 2022-23 collection is here!

    The Youth in Motion film for the 2022-2023 school year, the groundbreaking documentary UNAPOLOGETIC from director Ashley O’Shay and the film discussion guide are now available online to both educators and youth. Watch and discuss this powerful film in your school and download the discussion guide below!

    Abolition, Learning Activism, & Intersectionality

    Janaé Bonsu and Bella BAHHS are two fierce abolitionists organizing for racial justice and Black liberation in Chicago. Using their stories as a lens, the film Unapologetic and the accompanying discussion guide provide a deep look into the Movement for Black Lives and explore the generational harm caused by mass incarceration, police violence, and systemic racism motivating young Black leaders to push for change.

    The Sociology of Sport: Examining Identity & Non Discrimination

    Illuminates the civil rights issue of transgender inclusion in sports through study of the film CHANGING THE GAME, a documentary which takes us into the lives of three high school athletes at different stages of their athletic seasons, personal lives, and unique paths as transgender teens.

    Decolonization, Indigenization, and Intersecting Identities

    This collection explores topics of Two-Spirit Identities, Native American Politics and Sovereignty as they relate to the film Moroni For President and to the racial and social justice movements currently sweeping the globe.

    Intersecting Identities & Representation

    This collection explores what it means to hold intersecting identities and the impact of representation in media and art as explored through study if the film Behind the Curtain: Todrick Hall

    Resistance & Resilience: QTPOC Global to Local

    This collection features two documentaries that center and amplify the voices of queer and trans people of color in the U.S. and abroad through a study of 2 films: Call me Kuchu and Gaysians

    Creating Home: Queer Identities, Families, and Spaces

    This collection explores experiences of trans youth, the value of family and community support, and LGBTQ+ life in both urban and rural areas.

    Expanding Gender: Youth Out Front

    This collection explores the varied identities of trans and gender expansive youth and young adults through study of 4 short films; Passing, Monica's Story, A Place in the Middle and Tomgirl
