Ronnie Larsen's Shooting Porn is a humorous, touching, and — best of all — revealing look at life on two very different porn sets, presided over by two very different directors: Chi Chi La Rue and Gino Colbert. With unblinking candor, Larsen's camera uncovers every intimate detail of the activity as crews arrive to set up and cast members get into makeup, put on their "costumes" and rehearse with their directors.
Once the shooting begins, Larsen records the very human and often funny problems inherent in filming sex: actors who don't like each other, filmmakers with limited time, and performers who need a little more than a director yelling "Action!" to get into the swing of things. But Larsen doesn't stop rolling his camera when the porn-makers stop rolling theirs. He knows that the life of a porn movie really begins after the filming ends. Once again, his cameras take us behind the scenes as marketing and distribution plans are made. Next, he's off to the adult film industry awards show in Las Vegas. Finally, he captures the inner workings of an adult book store, where porn finally reaches its audience — gay men eager for a little fun and a lot of sex.
