Like a Brother introduces us to 19-year-old Zack (Benoît Delière), who has just moved to gay Paris from a small French town. Checking out the club scene and hooking up on chat lines, Zack is determined to live his life — and fulfill his desires — without answering to anybody. Yet lingering feelings for his best friend Romain (Thibault Boucaux) prevent him from truly opening himself to the possibilities before him.
A portrait of a young man torn between boyish love and manly passion, the film captures the excitement, insecurity and carnal thrill of youth in a touching story of sexual exploration. Like a Brother takes us to that pivotal moment where we let go of the past and swim in the beauty of the present.
Of course men betray you. Of course love is an illusion dissipated by desire. Of course we end up alone…
