A Gay Old Time

Have a gay old time with this collection of shorts and documentaries exploring the pains and pleasures of growing older.

Systolic/Diastolic are the beats of the heart, and it’s that vital organ which tells the story of Angel and Tono. Forever’s Gonna Start Tonight is a sneak preview of a documentary on San Francisco’s Vicki Mar-lane, the oldest living and continuously performing transgender drag performer. A woman visits her bubbie (grandma) with trepidation and hope in The Last Visit, and, after many years together, Joe faces life without Jana in Mirror Mirror. When the only lesbian in a large extended family discovers her great grandmother’s photo albums, she begins to suspect she is not alone in Just Me?, Daisy Graham has more important things to think about than being honored by the city’s leaders: She’s dug out her old rifle, and now all she needs is a box of bullets in Congratulations, Daisy Graham. Hello, My Name Is Herman poignantly and humorously describes the relationship between a 91year-old Jewish man, his lesbian granddaughter and her girlfriend, and Downstream is a snapshot of two 70-year-old Swiss ladies who have been walking along with each other for decades.
