Billy Name was the official photographer of Warhol's film productions and he had learnt the art of haircutting from his grandfather. Thus, he often invited to so-called "haircut saloons." Haircut #1 is one of Warhol's early films, from a time when he was still experimenting with different camera positions and light/shadow effects.
