Homegrown (Shorts Program)

Seven awesome shorts each bearing deliciously queer fruit, all homegrown here in the San Francisco Bay Area!

In Dyke Bars Never Last, a lonely queer sits outside of the now closed Lexington Bar, and follows a trail of signs, motorcycle babes, and femme dommes and leather daddies to the Last Dyke Bar on Earth. Jed Bell’s Dropping Penny is a comedy about a day in the life of two trans dogwalkers in San Francisco. A woman confronted with the absence of her lover is haunted by memories of passion, tenderness, and pain that pierce the margins of her reality, in Fig Tree. Don’t Judge Me, It’s Rude is about an emotionally nuanced reconnection at a tree stump. In I Live Here, Stevie tags along for a night out with his roommates, but later finds himself locked out of the house. Then police arrive. The PrEP Project is a hybrid doc and serves up a dose of sex ed for the 21st century, taking the fear out of the HIV epidemic with fun and outrageous frankness. A Great Ride looks at older lesbians — Sally Gearhart, Brenda Crawford, and several women who live in an LGBTQ-friendly retirement community in Santa Rosa — aging with dynamism and zest for life, determination, and humor.
