Come rediscover this infectiously charming Taiwanese queer classic from director Arvin Chen, a graduate of UC Berkeley and former Bay Area resident. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? takes a breezy and playful look at modern love as it clashes against longstanding tradition, centering around a shy optometrist and family man Wei-chung (Richie Jen).
With a six-year-old son and a new promotion, all seems to be going well in his life, but there’s a secret lurking behind his eyes. When his old friend Stephen (Lawrence Ko), a flamboyant wedding photographer, appears on the scene, that secret is all too clear: Wei-chung has lived his entire married life as a closeted gay man. But his innate desires can only be repressed for so long, soon sparked by a young flight attendant named Thomas (Wong Ka-Lok). This impeccably charming romantic comedy is an utter delight, with its ensemble cast of sweet (but never saccharine) characters, fairytale-like dream sequences, karaoke cabaret, and the most intimate eye exam ever seen on film.
