Dancer, musician, artist, and publisher of the cult queer zine Fag School, Brontez Purnell (I Want Your Love, Frameline37; Unstoppable Feat: The Dances of Ed Mock, Frameline42) made his directorial debut with this semi-autobiographical "video mixtape" in 2016 — which spawned two additional video mixtapes and an award-winning collection of short stories.
Profane, shrewd, and hilarious in equal measures, 100 Boyfriends Mixtape follows DeShawn (played by Purnell), an HIV-positive homo in the Bay Area, on his sexual/romantic misadventures after his boyfriend stops wanting to have sex.
Time travel with us through San Francisco from the early 1980s to present day in an erotic exploration of the transgressive, queer spirits that have inhabited these streets for decades. This saucy city symphony features bold, fun, controversial works from Curt McDowell, Jiz Lee, Brontez Purnell, Aron Kantor, Shine Louise Houston, and Christopher Lee.
This film contains sexually explicit material.
