In this funny and tender depiction of the sometimes awkward but often enlightening transitional years of one’s early 20s, naïve but charming Alex (Ramiro Batista) returns home to Miami after a catastrophic breakup back in New York City. The breakup has left Alex heartbroken and a tad embarrassed, and returning to his Miami family home isn’t helping any of those feelings. Defeated to have to leave New York City and with no friends in Miami to pass the summer with, Alex is forced to find work and connection without much life experience to support him. But over the course of the summer, he receives a crash course in adulthood thanks to his first hook-up, Chris, where he learns to navigate sex, friendship, work, and the nuances of queer relationships.
Armed with a forgotten camcorder he finds among the storage boxes that now overtake his childhood bedroom, Alex stumbles his way towards self-discovery and surviving the hell of early adulthood — that is if he can survive the literal hurricane on the horizon. Heartfelt and amusing, Fallen Fruit distills the agony of the post-college years through a compassionate queer lens both affectionate and hilarious in its depiction of lessons we have all had to learn.
A late-night encounter and a summer romance merge when a small-town teenager named Smith sneaks out to meet a man in his twenties.
