OUTCRY: Alchemists of Rage follows artist and activist Whitney Bradshaw as she photographs womxn mid-scream during transformational gatherings where participants reclaim the power of their voices. Facing an onslaught of hostile legislation, Whitney works to spread OUTCRY’s radical empathy and community-building nationwide. OUTCRY is directed by Oakland-based cinematographer Clare Major and produced by Jen Rainin and Rivkah Beth Medow, the team behind Holding Moses (Best Documentary Short winner at Frameline46) and Ahead of the Curve (Frameline44).

Clare Major is a documentary filmmaker and cinematographer who specializes in handheld observational camerawork and in stories that illuminate the intersection of cultures and the lives of women and girls. Recent cinematography credits include Oscar-shortlisted short doc Holding Moses (2022); In the Bones (2022), which was Gold Winner for Best Cinematography (Feature Film) at the Dubai Festival; and Peabody nominee and Emmy winner Belly of the Beast (2020). Clare’s short documentary Feast & Sacrifice, made in the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, was nominated for a Student Academy Award and won a first place College Television Award (a.k.a. Student Emmy). Clare served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal and has walked from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail. In 2020, she was named one of DOC NYC’s “40 Under 40” filmmakers to watch.
